2 Die In Apparent Murder-Suicide

From Staff And Wire Reports

A man and woman were fatally shot in an apparent murder-suicide at the woman’s home, Cowlitz County Coroner Gary Greig said Wednesday.

The woman, Kina Pacheco, 32, had suffered two gunshot wounds to the head. The man, 27-year-old Eduardo Perez Vasquez, was shot once in the head.

Vasquez was convicted of fourth-degree assault last year for attacking Pacheco and served 10 days in the county jail.

Police were called early Tuesday by a friend of Pacheco’s, who was talking with her on the telephone when the line went dead after three loud noises.

A handgun was recovered from the home after the shootings.

Five children, asleep at the time of the shootings, were removed from the home and placed in the care of a relative, police Capt. Charles Harper said. They ranged in age from 18 months to 15 years.
