Geyer’s Hit Wins It For Scott’s In Seventh

Jim Geyer’s run-scoring single with two out in the bottom of the seventh inning Wednesday lifted Scott’s Custom Homes to a 9-8 American Legion baseball win over JobQuest at Central Valley High.

Geyer’s single scored Sam Hess, who had doubled in Tim Klein to tie the game with two out.

Grant Reeves had a two-run homer in the third and Brad Coe had two doubles and two RBIs for Scott’s (6-6). Todd Weger had three hits, including two doubles, for JobQuest (9-7).

Elsewhere, the East Valley Merchants strung together a 12-run third to outslug the North Stars 21-13 at Shadle Park’s Al K. Jackson Field.

Keith Osso and Tom Fox each went 4 for 5 for the Merchants (5-9). Osso scored five times and drove in three runs. Fox had four RBIs and scored three runs.

Winning pitcher Steve Pipkin was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and teammate Vince Fasano was 2 for 3 with a double.

The North Stars (1-11) also padded their offensive stats. Zach Nelson had three doubles, scored twice and had two RBIs, while Dan McCrae had three RBIs and Cory McLaughlin went 2 for 3.

At Gonzaga University, Forrest Higgins’ squeeze bunt in the bottom of the seventh tied the game, and a throwing error to home on the same play gave Washington Trust Bank a 6-5 win over Maxwell House (4-9).

Bob Strahl and Brendan McNallen scored on the deciding play for WTB (9-7).

Matt Allen of Maxwell House had a solo homer in the fifth and a three-run blast in the sixth to tie the game.

At Asotin, Eric Eigenhuis struck out nine and pitched a two-hitter as Spokane Athletic Supply (11-5) defeated PAC 5-0 to split a doubleheader. Cimmeron Heinz and Jason Emery had RBI singles during a five-run seventh as PAC (4-7) rallied for an 8-6 win in the first game.
