Heavy Rain Causes 30-Car Pileup

Four people died and 23 were injured Saturday in a 30-car pileup that authorities blamed on the rain-slicked road.

“One vehicle lost control. Cars started piling up after that,” said police officer Jim Roe.

A heavy downpour preceded the crash that left traffic backed up for about three hours on Interstate 10, the east-west artery along the Gulf Coast.
