Charles ‘Punky’ Jemison Wallace

Memorial service for Charles E. “Punky” Jemison, 57, was Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Osburn Community Baptist Church, Osburn, Idaho.Shoshone Funeral Service, Wallace, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Jemison, who was born in Wallace, died Thursday at Shoshone Medical Center in Kellogg.

He lived in the area most of his life and attended North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene. He was also an Army veteran.

He married Karlene Petersen in Coeur d’Alene in 1988.

He enjoyed traveling, carpentry and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, at the home; son, Frederick of Hauser Lake; stepsons, Gene Hanan of Rose Lake and Andy Hanan of Boise; stepdaughters, Debra Gutierrez of Mullan and Kathy Hanan of Springfield, Mo.; mother, Ruby Jemison of Coeur d’Alene; sister, Karen Johnson of Mesa, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorials may be sent to the Osburn Community Baptist Church-Deacons Fund.

Winona ‘Winnie’ Stewart St. Maries

At her request, no service will be held for Winona “Winnie” Stewart, 70, who died Thursday from complications with cancer.

She grew up in Columbus, Ohio, and graduated from high school there in 1942. During World War II she worked in defense factories.

She married Edward Stewart in Kentucky in 1949 and they made their home in Columbus.

In 1950 she moved to Salinas, Calif., where she was a homemaker and worked in a produce plant. In 1965 she moved to Elmira, Ore., where she helped her husband operate Ed’s Chevron for 17 years. She moved to St. Maries in 1979.

She was a 36-year member of the Seven Star Rebekah Lodge and served as past district deputy president and past noble grand. She was also a member of the V.F.W. and Eagle Auxiliaries.

She loved hunting and fishing.

Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by a son, Michael, in 1985.

Survivors include her husband, at the home; son, Frank Froggatt of Florence, Ore.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Doris Jones Spokane

Graveside service for Doris M. Jones, 43, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Jones, who was born in Spokane, died Thursday.

She graduated from Ferris High School and worked at Deaconess Medical Center for 18 years, most recently as an instrument aide.

She is survived by her husband of 15 y;ears, Mark Jones; two daughters, Lisa and Amy; her parents, Jerry and Mae Mueller; three sisters, Linda Pierce, Lu Ann Himelspach and Karla Culver, all of Spokane; and her grandfather, George Mueller of Spokane.

Rose Lemmons Spokane

Funeral service for Rose M. Lemmons, 88, is set for 3 p.m. Wednesday at Riverside Mausoleum Chapel. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lemmons died July 11. She was born in Wyoming.

A homemaker, she had lived in Spokane for more than over 50 years.

She is survived by three daughters, LaVon Baker, Beverly Crocker and Charlotte Fricke, all of Spokane; two sons, Don and Alvin Lemmons, both of Fremont, Calif.; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Iona Sarah Vandiver Post Falls

Graveside service for Iona Sarah Vandiver, 81, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Evergreen Cemetery, Post Falls.English Funeral Chapel, Post Falls, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Vandiver, who was born in Gooding, Idaho, died Friday in Coeur d’Alene. She married Merrill Vandiver at State Line in 1941 and was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by a son, Leland, in 1987 and two brothers, Alvin and Ernest Brown.

Survivors include her husband, at home; sons, Van Vandiver of Hayden Lake, and Wayne Vandiver of Troutdale, Ore.; daughter, Carol Dickinson of Henderson, Nev.; brother, Roy Brown of Gooding; and 16 grandchildren.

Edward Vecchio Spokane

Funeral Mass for Edward J. Vecchio, 82, will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. His nephew, Rev. Armand Nigro, S.J., will be the celebrant. Private burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Henessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Vecchio, who died Thursday, was a lifetime Spokane resident. He began working for Great Northern Railway when he was 15 and retired from Burlington Northern Railroad in 1973 after 46 years.

He is survived by his wife, Marian Vecchio; one brother, Frank Vecchio of Spokane; three sisters, Margaret Nigro, Eva Gagliardi and Lillian Jannak, all of Spokane.
