Margaret Aspinwall Spokane
Memorial service for Margaret D. Aspinwall, 92, was Monday at The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist.
Mrs. Aspinwall, who died Wednesday, was born in New York.
A homemaker and 67-year Spokane resident, she was a member of The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, the Social Service Guild and Pi Beta Phi.
Mrs. Aspinwall was preceded in death by her husbands, A.T. Lynch, George Anderson and Leonard Aspinwall.
She is survived by one son, A.T. “Tim” Anderson of Phoenix; one daughter, Molly Anderson of Spokane; four stepsons, Leonard Aspinwall of Issaquah, Wash., Nevin Aspinwall of St. Louis, and Stephen and Mark Aspinwall, both of Spokane; 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Social Service Guild.
Harry Setters Klamath Falls, Ore.
Service for Harry Chapman Setters, 79, was Monday at Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial was at Oakesdale (Wash.) Cemetery.
Mr. Setters died Thursday in Klamath Falls, where he had lived since he retired.
Born in Ralston, Wash., he graduated from Lamont High School in 1935.
He operated Setters Farms near Oakesdale from 1942 to 1969 and raised grain and cattle.
In 1980 he retired, and each year he and his wife, Frieda, would spend six months in Desert Hot Springs, Calif., and six months in Klamath Falls, Ore.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Frieda Setters; two sons, Pat Setters of Lyle, Wash., and Raymond Setters of Klamath Falls; one sister, Mary Riddle of Mead; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-greatgrandson.
Hilda Geil Spokane
Graveside service for Hilda E. Geil, 86, was Monday at Riverside Memorial Park.
Mrs. Geil, who was born in Greenfield, Wis., died last Tuesday.
She had lived in Spokane for 60 years and was a nurse.
She is survived by one daughter, Marjorie Bailey of Spokane; one son, James Geil of San Diego; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Bessie Spicer St. Maries
Service for Bessie T. Spicer, 91, will be today at 11 a.m. at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. Burial will follow at Forest Cemetery, Coeur d’Alene.
Mrs. Spicer died Friday in St. Maries.
She was born in 1904 in Backus, Minn., and moved to Edwards, Mo. when she was 4. In 1918 she moved to Blunt, S.D., and finished grade school. She attended high school in Canistota, S.D., for two years and then taught school for one year.
She married Lester Spicer in 1923, and they moved to Harrison in 1937. They operated a dairy farm on Harrison Flats until 1958 and then she moved to Spokane.
Her husband died in 1960.
In 1985 she moved into Lilac Plaza in Spokane, where she lived for two years before moving to St. Maries.
She enjoyed sewing and gardening and was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church of Spokane. She was also a member of the You Go-I Go Club of Harrison Flats.
Survivors include three sons, Lyle and Lloyd Spicer of Spokane, and Virgil Spicer of Hayden Lake, Idaho; two daughters, Lavonne Ingram of Alta Loma, Calif., and Donna Jacot of Seattle; a brother, Nathan Hanks of Cataldo, Idaho; a sister, Dorothy Morrison of Eugene, Ore.; 18 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Joshua Speck Deer Park
Funeral Mass for Joshua Speck, 17, is planned for 2 p.m. today at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Spokane. Lauer Funeral Home of Deer Park is in charge of cremation.
He was killed Saturday in an auto accident southwest of Deer Park. He attended Deer Park High School and would have been a senior this fall.
He was an artist and played guitar.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Laure and Tim Ely of Deer Park; his father, Robert Speck of Spokane; one brother, Justin Davidson of Deer Park; one sister, Marvellena Ely of Deer Park; his grandfather, Robert DeForge; and his grandmother Ruth Schackle of Spokane.
Dustin Robison Deer Park
Service for Dustin Robison, 15, is planned for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Riverside Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Burial will be at the Loon Lake (Wash.) Cemetery. Lauer Funeral Home of Deer Park is in charge of arrangements.
Dustin was killed Saturday in a car accident southwest of Deer Park.
He took classes at Deer Park alternative high school and would have been a sophomore this fall.
He was involved with football and wrestling and was a member of Troop 203 of the Boy Scouts of America.
He is survived by his parents, Ben and Tina Robison of Deer Park; three brothers, Benjamin, Travis and Nathan Robison, all of Deer Park; one sister, Reagan Henry of Deer Park; and his grandparents, Dick and Tonia Wade of Otis Orchards, and Emabel Robison of Colville, Wash.
Earl Herman Spokane
Service for Earl L. Herman, 86, was Monday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South. Burial was at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
Born in Edwall, Wash., Mr. Herman, died Thursday.
Mr. Herman was an electrician and worked for Power City Electric for 30 years. He retired in 1973.
He was a member of First Free Methodist Church, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 73 and Eagles Lodge 2.
His first wife, Mamie, died in 1979.
He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Isabel Herman; three sons, Lavern Herman of Stevensville, Mont., Al Herman of Spokane and Wayne Herman of Kalispell, Mont.; one brother, Jack Herman of Spokane; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association of Washington.
Olive Lowry Spokane
Vigil service for Olive Ann Lowry, 78, is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Miss Lowry, who was born in Chicago, died Friday.
She moved to Spokane in 1918.
She graduated from Otis Orchards High School and Eastern Washington College. She received her master’s degree from Gonzaga University and was a teacher and administrator for 43 years in Spokane.
Miss Lowry had served as principal at Edison and Madison Elementary schools. She retired as supervisor of basic instruction for Spokane School District 81.
She received a Staffer of the Year award for District 81 in 1972 and was named Northeast Washington Educator of the Year in 1977.
Miss Lowry was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma sorority, Zonta Club, the Catholic Business and Professional Women’s Club, the Spokane Area Retired Teachers Association, and St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
She is survived by a sister, Margaret Hattenburg of Spokane.

Charles Kroetch Spokane
Funeral Mass for Charles L. Kroetch, 63, will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Spokane, Mr. Kroetch died Friday.
He graduated from North Central High School.
Mr. Kroetch was the owner and president of Kroma International Graphics Center Inc. in Spokane.
He was a member of St. Aloysius Parish.
Mr. Kroetch had been a member of Spokane Advertising Association, and the Spokane Sports, Entertainment, Arts and Convention Advisory Board (SEACAB), and was an original member of the board of directors of Sterling Savings Association in 1981.
He was a member of WAMPUM.
He is survived by his wife, Florence “Patty” Kroetch of Spokane; one son, Marc Kroetch of Spokane; two daughters, Karen Kroetch and Juli Kienbaum, both of Spokane; his mother, Serena Kroetch of Ephrata, Wash.; three brothers, Richard Kroetch of Bainbridge Island, Wash., Gregory Kroetch of Spokane and William “Bill” Kroetch of Spirit Lake, Idaho; four sisters, Jane Klasen of Ephrata, Wash., Joan Moran of Spokane, Cathy Wilson of Lethbridge, Alberta, and Margaret Mary Tracy of Odessa, Wash.; and five grandchildren.
Elizabeth Desmarais Spokane
Funeral Mass for Elizabeth Desmarais, 85, will be at 9 a.m. today at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Desmarais, who died Friday, was born in Russia.
She worked as a nurses’ aide and had lived in Spokane for 30 years.
She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, the Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
Her husband, Adrian Desmarais, died in 1983.
She is survived by three sons, Roger Desmarais of San Diego, Mark Desmarais of Honolulu and Denis Desmarais of Spokane; one daughter, Jane Marsh of San Diego; two sisters, Margaret Zerr of Yakima and Ann Meyer of San Francisco; and eight grandchildren.
Rex Maxey Spokane
Graveside service for Rex D. Maxey, 81, is set for 10 a.m. Thursday at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Norman, Ark., Mr. Maxey died Wednesday.
He had lived in Spokane for more than 50 years and worked in the lumber industry.
He is survived by two sisters, Daisy Scoggins, Springfield, Ore., and Gency Yeargan.
Keith Pennell Newport, Wash.
Service for Keith J. Pennell, 88, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport. Burial will be at Newport Cemetery.
Mr. Pennell, who died Thursday at home, was born in Chelan, Wash.
He had lived in Pend Oreille County for 65 years and operated the Pennell Fur Farm until he retired in 1980.
He served in the Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Margaret Pennell; two daughters, Christy Smith and Jackie Graham, both of Spokane; one son, Bruce Pennell; six stepsons, Charles Foster of Cheney, Clyde Foster of Newport, David Foster of Kotzebue, Alaska, Frank Foster of Port Angeles, Wash., Jim Foster of Belfair, Wash., and Tom Foster of Dalkena, Wash.; 25 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Zula Franklin Spokane
Service for Zula Jane Franklin, 90, will be at 2 p.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home with burial will be at Spokane Memorial Gardens.
Born in Ames, Okla., Mrs. Franklin died Friday.
A homemaker, she had lived in Spokane for 23 years.
Her husband Ernest Franklin, died in 1992.
Survivors include one son, Ernest Franklin of Texas; one daughter, Thelma Roberts of Spokane; 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Terry Martin Ione, Wash.
Private service will be held for Terry E. Martin, 49. Inurnment will be at the Metaline (Wash.) Cemetery. A memorial service was held in Salina, Kan., on Saturday. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
Mr. Martin, who died Wednesday at home, was born in Salina.
He served in the Navy from 1964 until 1969.
In 1983 he and his wife, Cathy, moved to Ione, where he worked for Vaagen Bros. Lumber.
He is survived by his wife; two children, Steve and Leslie, both at home; three brothers, Pat Martin of Winthrop, Wash., Dennis Martin of Salina and Ron Martin of McPherson, Kan.; and four sisters, Virginia and Louisa, both of Assaria, Kan., Barb of Denver and Linda of Fort McClellan, Ala.
