Manage That Money

Sharma Shields Ferris

It won’t be long before local teens will be exiting the warm cocoon of their parents’ home and flying off to a new and very expensive life.

So, Consumer Credit Counseling of Spokane is offering a Personal Finances 101 course to prepare the college-bound student for the rocky reality of finance. This two-hour class will teach students to set up and manage checking accounts, how and why to avoid “bad” checks, the importance of a savings account and living within their means, how to maintain a “clean” credit report and how to avoid the credit trap. It will outline the true cost of living.

The course is at 6:30 p.m. July 24 at 1912 N. Division, lower level conference room. Cost is $15 per student (accompanying parents attend free). Call (509) 327-3777 or (800) 892-6854 for information or a registration form.
