Dealer Fined For Helping Streisand
Ever wonder why the rich get richer?
Sometimes, they have a little help from the blackjack dealer.
A floor manager at a casino Barbra Streisand visited over the July Fourth weekend has been suspended and fined for helping her win, casino officials said Thursday.
G. Michael Brown, president of Foxwoods Resort Casino, said in a statement that the manager was fined for violating procedures “in order to encourage entertainer Barbara Streisand to win at blackjack when she shouldn’t have.”
Neither Brown nor casino spokesman Bruce MacDonald would reveal what specifically the manager did or how much money Streisand won.
“We’re talking peanuts here,” MacDonald said.
Martin Erlichman, Streisand’s manager, said he hasn’t spoken to the singer who is out of the country.
“She’s not a gambler. It’s not her style,” he said.
The floor manager immediately reported himself to the tribal gaming commission, the casino said. He wasn’t identified and received a “substantial fine,” Brown said.
