Bellingham Beats Indians

The Spokane Indians lost their seventh straight game Saturday night, against Bellingham, as the Giants beat Spokane 9-4.

The Indians have had two other losing streaks that reached six games this season. Spokane is 13-23 on the year.

Bellingham moved its record to 21-15 and has won five straight.

Spokane jumped to a 4-1 lead after three innings, scoring twice in the first and third.

Bellingham scored once in the fourth, twice in the second and five in the eighth inning to put the game away.

In the decisive eighth, Bellingham sent 10 batters to the plate.

The Giants’ leadoff batter, Teodoro Prospero, grounded to William Roland, but Roland threw high for an error. Alex Morales was set up to bunt, but he was hit by a pitch.

Bruce Thompson then singled home Prospero before John Watson doubled to score Morales and Thompson.

Two more Bellingham runs put the game away.

The Indians will conclude their four-game series against Bellingham today in a 6:05 contest.
