Man Leads Police On Car Chase

From Staff And Wire Reports

A 33-year-old Spokane man was being held in jail Sunday after leading police on a car chase, hitting a utility pole and running away.

Jesse H. Jacobs, of 5318 E. Commerce, was booked into jail for allegedly attempting to elude police. No bond had been set Sunday.

Police spotted a car driving erratically at Crestline and Rowan just before 1 a.m. Saturday. When a patrol car flashed its overhead lights, the car started to pull over, then sped away.

It reached speeds of 60 mph through a residential area and then smashed into a utility pole at Haven and Joseph. The driver jumped from the car and ran, police said.

Police ran after the man and caught him near Market and Joseph streets.

In the man’s car, police found a rifle and three bags containing six syringes, three spoons and a razor blade.
