Whitworth Employees Receive Awards At Banquet
Whitworth College recently held an employee awards banquet and recognized the following persons:
Forrest Baird, professor of religion and philosophy, Teaching Excellence Award.
Mark Biermann, assistant professor of physics, Teaching Excellence Award.
Karen Albrecht, assistant director of the physical plant, Outstanding Physical Plant Service Award.
Mike Westenskow, technical director of the Cowles Memorial Auditorium, Outstanding Professional-Technical Service Award.
Cathy Ashcraft, controller and benefits coordinator, Outstanding Administrator Service Award.
Jan Van Thillo, office supervisor, enrollment services, Outstanding Office Support Service Award.
Dale Soden, associate professor of history and director of continuing studies, Outstanding Faculty Service Award.
Janelle Thayer, director of counseling services, Unsung Hero’s Award for the 1994-95 school year.
Gonzaga University recently honored its top teachers:
Jane Rinehart, associate professor of sociology and co-director of the women’s studies program, President’s Faculty Achievement Award.
Michael Bonin, assistant professor of English, Great Teachers Program Award for Teaching Excellence.
James Helgeson, associate professor of marketing in the school of business administration, Great Teachers Program Award for Distinguished Scholarship.
Fran Polek, English professor who is retiring this semester after 29 years at GU, Professor of English Emeritus.
Jim Vache, Gonzaga School of Law professor, Jerry Tucker Memorial Lecturer for fall 1995.
Jerry Monks, the Kinsey Robinson professor of business administration, was honored for being selected as the 1994 Washington Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.
Brad Nickle has been awarded the title of senior consultant by Dean Witter’s investment consulting services division, upon completion of a comprehensive training program. He has more than 28 years experience.
Stephanie Hudson, Spokane, was recently confirmed at the Guadalupe Pastoral Center, Carroll College, Helena.
Gretchen Rapp is the local 1995 winner of the Padgett Business Services scholarship of $500. She is a student at University High School and plans to attend Hamline University, St. Paul, Minn.
