Judge Approves Sale Of Ballard Computer
The $3 million sale of Ballard Computer stores to the owners of Doppler Computer in Vancouver, British Columbia, has been approved by a federal bankruptcy judge, subject to lease negotiations.
Strategic Operations Ltd., formed by the owners of the Canadian retailer, will operate Ballard Computer stores in Seattle, Mount Vernon and Issaquah and may add more, Doppler president David Chalk said. Doppler is the largest computer retail operation in British Columbia with sales of $40 million last year.
“We’ll do whatever we can to make it a great place to buy computers,” Chalk said.
The deal approved Tuesday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court is unlikely to provide more than $500,000 to unsecured creditors, who are owed $7 million dollars, said Merrilee McClean, a lawyer for Strategic Operations.
