Bonnie Harris Staff Writer

A north Spokane man was arrested last week, following a burglary at a house where he used to live, sheriff’s deputies said.

Lawrence Hatton Jr., 37, was booked into the Spokane County Jail. Deputies said he moved out of a home on the 7100 block of North Freya only to return several days later on May 31 when the crime occurred.

He also was arrested for fourthdegree assault and third-degree malicious mischief.

Youth riding stolen motorcycle

A Spokane teenager was arrested last week for riding a stolen motorcycle near the T.J. Meenach Bridge.

Sheriff’s deputies stopped the youth for not having a license plate or lights on the bike. The 17-year-old driver also did not have a valid driver’s license.

When the deputies determined the bike was stolen, the real owner came to the scene and confirmed that the motorcycle was his. The helmet being worn by the teenager also had been stolen with the bike, deputies said.

He was booked into the Spokane County Juvenile Detention Center.

Credit card theft arrest made

A 31-year-old man who ordered tires from Sears with a stolen credit card was arrested last week at the North Division store, sheriff’s deputies said.

Rick Groce, who gave his address as 9624 N. Colfax, was booked into the Spokane County Jail for seconddegree possession of stolen property and attempted theft.

Sheriff’s deputies said Groce called the store June 1 and used the credit card to order the tires, valued at $1,000. When he arrived a short time later to pick up the order, Sears security officers detained him until deputies arrived.

They determined Groce had several outstanding warrants for his arrest. More stolen property belonging to the credit card owner was found in Groce’s pickup, deputies said.

Juveniles charged with robbery

Two juveniles were arrested Saturday evening after a car almost ran over one of two teenagers riding their bikes on Rowan near Lindeke, police said.

After nearly hitting the teen, the two juveniles stopped the car, got out and began beating the teenagers, police said. They also took a hat belonging to one of the bike riders.

The two juveniles were arrested for first-degree robbery, police said.
