Three-Week Heat Wave Killing Hundreds In India
The three-week heat wave in India has killed more than 520 people, news reports said Saturday.
At least 80 people died of dehydration and sunstroke in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh on Friday and Saturday as high temperatures reached 113, United News of India reported.
The heat wave has killed 227 people in Uttar Pradesh alone. Deaths also are reported daily from the desert states of Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Bihar and Andhra Pradesh.
Relief may be near. Rains have begun in some southern and eastern states and even flooded many villages.
