Edith Louise Cook Prescott, Wash.

Edith Louise Cook, Prescott, will turn 100 years old on July 29. A celebration will be Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Kenova Grange Hall, Pine City, Wash. Family and friends are invited to attend.

Edith Cook was born in Whitman County on July 29, 1895; she is a lifelong resident of Eastern Washington.

She has eight children: Marold Cook, Ivan Cook and Neil Cook, all of St. John; Naomi Morasch, Spokane; Melvin Cook, Colville; Ilene Kromm, Waitsburg; Neva Hargrave, Post Falls; and Donna Rae Morasch, Prescott.

She and her husband, the late Ira Cook, began farming in the Ewan, Wash., area in 1913. In 1936 they moved to Pine City, Wash., where they farmed until his death in 1971. Edith Cook lived in the Pine City home until 1992, when she moved to Prescott to live with her daughter, Donna Rae Morasch.

She has 29 grandchildren, 72 greatgrandchildren, and 39 great-great-grandchildren.

When asked what she attributes her longevity to, she replied, “just keeping busy and having good health.”
