West Valley And Mountain View Ii Dominate Ponys

A pair of Spokane Valley Baseball Pony League teams have taken control of their divisions midway through the season.

West Valley improved its American record to 6-0 last week with 10-0 and 11-1 wins. Pitchers, including Derrien Waldron, allowed three hits and struck out 21. Ian Harty had a bases-loaded triple during one win, three hits and three RBIs in another.

Mountain View II has a two game lead over Perfection Tire in the National Division.

Teams take Midget lead

In the Midget League, Northwest Fence and Medicine Shoppe remain unbeaten in the American Division, while a quartet of teams are perfect in the rain-abbreviated National Division.

Greg Malone and Josh McConahy both went 3-for-3 during a Medicine Shoppe 14-1 victory over Happy Hatter. Northwest Fence’s Seth Gemar pitched three two-hit innings to beat Norma’s Burger Barn 3-1.

Unbeaten Valley Firefighters in the National Division got a grandslam home run and five total RBIs from Chad Mathison, who combined with Shae Lanphere on a 15-strikeout, one-hit 9-2 win over Food Rainbow.

Midget highlights include Ryan Walley’s four innings of one-hit eightstrikeout ball for Banner Fuel, Jay Pearson’s triple, double and three RBIs for Godfather’s Pizza, the pitching, catching and hitting of Parker Roberts during two one-run victories by Aztech Electric, and a grand-slam home run by Chris Stien and two doubles by Sky Baker for Perfection Tire.

Pee Wee teams unbeaten

In the Pee Wee League two teams are unbeaten, Tom’s Barber Shop in the American Division and Valley OB Gyn in the National Division.

The latter came from behind to beat Homestead Construction on the pitching and hitting of Travis Hill who hit two home runs and a double to drive in six runs. He had the gamewinning hit during a three-run sixth inning.

Surging George Velis DDS was paced by Pete Walter who pitched perfect ball, striking out nine during one win and who drove in five runs in another.

Pee Wee highlights included Tyler Hauschild’s seven RBIs and two nohit outings for Pizza Hut. The team struck out all 15 batters during a win over K.C. Properties.

Jeremy Kline had three hits including a double and triple for Omech Construction, and Kiffer Knigge was 3-for-3 with a two-run home run for Savage House Pizza.
