Skydome Gains Approval

Compiled From Wire Services

City inspectors have pronounced the SkyDome safe after all the acoustic panels in the stadium were reinforced.

SkyDome officials said emergency repairs were made by maintenance crews, who reinforced the 8-foot-by-2 1/2-foot panels ringing the stadium by installing four concrete bolts.

The work was checked by a private engineering firm hired by the SkyDome, and by city building inspectors, who gave approval for the stadium to open for a Saturday football game.

Seven spectators were injured after two 30-pound panels fell into the stands during the Blue Jays game last Thursday.
