Prairie Earns Legion Sweep

Prairie swept Glacier of Whitefish, Mont., 4-2 and 7-4 in an American Legion baseball doubleheader in Post Falls on Monday.

Joel Gorham tossed a fourhitter in the first game, striking out four and walking three. Al Bevacqua and Josh Phelps each had two hits.

In the second game, Josh Phelps hit a two-run homer and also pitched a complete game for the winners.

Washington preps

Mark Machtolf, who has been the Gonzaga Prep baseball coach for three years, has resigned to become an assistant coach at Gonzaga University.

Machtolf will continue to teach at Gonzaga Prep.
