Transportation Discussion In Indian Trail

From Staff Reports

A group of Spokane residents that has been sponsoring symposiums on the future will host a discussion on alternative transportation, Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Salk Middle School’s cafeteria.

The school at Francis and Alberta in northwest Spokane is in an area where traffic and transportation planning have been hotly debated. Organizers thought that would be an appropriate place for the discussion, “Bankruptcy or Polygamy: Our Love Affair with the Car.”

This is the fourth symposium by the group, whose sponsors include Greenmoney Journal, Family Magazine, Senior Times, Northwest Regional Facilitators and the Washington Environmental Council.

The symposiums are modeled after discussions that occurred in Spokane during Expo ‘74.

Organizer Bernadine Van Thiel, a writer and former teacher, said the forums are “to provide some hope. There are some young people out there without hope.”
