Import A Little Culture For Your Family
Spokane-area teens are often whining about what lack of culture their city contains. So why not find a richer culture by inviting a French teen to stay in your home for one month during the summer?
The Loisirs Culturels A L’Etranger (or LEC) is offering a chance for students in Spokane, the Valley and in Mead to show a European what life is like in America. The teenagers and their families will be able to experience French culture as well, not to mention making close friends abroad.
Call Mary Benham, LEC coordinator, 747-0692 for details. Merci mille fois!
College cash: And for those college-bound students still fishing for a cash flow, the Fairchild Air Force Base Officers’ Wives’ Club and Enlisted Wives’ Club have joined to offer several scholarships for the 1994-95 school year.
The scholarships, ranging from $500 to $1,000, are offered to Spokane students maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.5 and who are legal dependents of a U.S. military member (active duty, retired or deceased). Applications and eligibility criteria, due by April 14, have been distributed to all Spokane area high schools, Base Education Offices, the Spokane Public Library (main branch) and Spokane Community College.
Another scholarship is also being offered from the Deer Park Health Center and Hospital for a student of registered nursing during the 1995-96 school year.
The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to the most able student planning to be a nurse. Applicants also must have graduated from Deer Park, Riverside or Mary Walker high schools. Information and application forms, due by April 15, are available from the Deer Park Health Center and Hospital, P.O. Box 742, Deer Park, Wa. 99006.
