A new apartment complex for disabled and low-income tenants opened last month in the Spokane Valley.

The $1 million Spokane Volunteers of America project was paid for by the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Valley Place, a 19-unit complex of one- and two-bedroom units, opened Feb. 15. The units were filled that day.

Occupants must meet disability or lowincome guidelines.

Kiemle & Hagood manages the complex.

The VOA and Kiemle & Hagood have also developed Applewood and Country Heights in Spokane, which house disabled tenants.

Collectible gun shop opens

NorthWest Collector Arms opened in the Spokane Valley last Wednesday.

The shop at 12021 E. Sprague sells collectible firearms ranging in price from $100 to $30,000, said owner Bill Bean. The store also buys and trades firearms and offers consulting, appraisal and estate services.

The shop will also feature collectible pocket knives, African curios and oil paintings.

Bank expands in Valley

Construction will begin this month on a new Washington Trust Bank branch on Sullivan Road.

The 4,700-square-foot building, at 407 N. Sullivan, will be on the northwest corner of Sullivan and Valleyway.

The full-service bank is scheduled to open in early September, said the bank’s vice president of marketing, Lea Werner. It will be the Valley’s fourth Washington Trust Bank.
