Ncaa Extends Investigation To Stoudamire

Associated Press

The NCAA is investigating links between Arizona point guard Damon Stoudamire and a Southern California sports agent, the Houston Chronicle reported in today’s editions.

The investigation is part of a wide-ranging effort by the NCAA to scrutinize the activities of agent Steve Feldman of Newport Beach, Calif., a source familiar with the case said.

The NCAA has obtained records indicating Feldman purchased a plane ticket for Stoudamire’s father, Willie, last month to travel from his Portland home to Los Angeles when Arizona played at USC and UCLA.

According to NCAA rules, an athlete can be ruled ineligible if he or a relative accepts transportation or other benefits from a sports agent.

Arizona athletic director Jim Livengood declined comment Friday when asked about the NCAA’s inquiry. Willie Stoudamire said he has had no dealings with Feldman.

“I don’t know who Steve Feldman is,” he said.

Efforts to contact Feldman were unsuccessful.

Feldman, 41, is known primarily as a football agent. His clients have included San Diego linebacker Junior Seau and Cincinnati wide receiver Carl Pickens.
