Preacher Lambastes Gop’s ‘Contract’

Compiled From Wire Services

President Clinton heard a Sunday sermon that fits right in with his campaign against the GOP’s “Contract With America.”

Dr. Gardner Taylor, a guest preacher from Concord Baptist Church in New York, used his sermon to label the contract a “new and untoward movement” that works against efforts to ensure human rights for all.

“There are people in this land who insist on the birth of children but are ready to starve them after they are born and, if by chance they survive the starving, to execute them by the time they’re grown,” Taylor told the congregation at Howard University’s Andrew Rankin Memorial Chapel.

Clinton and his wife, Hillary, were visiting the church as guests of their friend Vernon Jordan.
