Dodgers Lose Pitching Prospect To Reconstructive Elbow Surgery
Darren Dreifort, who a year ago went from the college campus directly to the Los Angeles Dodgers bullpen, had elbow surgery Tuesday and won’t be pitching in 1995.
Dr. Frank Jobe performed reconstructive surgery in Inglewood, Calif.
Dreifort was a first-round pick in the 1993 draft. He was 0-5 with a 6.21 ERA and six saves last season before going to the minors June 23.

Fernandez, who was granted political asylum after sailing to the U.S. in November 1993, has yet to allow a run in three appearances this spring.
