Simms Finally Finds Work - As An Nbc Announcer
The anticipated return of Phil Simms to the NFL with the Cleveland Browns ended abruptly Sunday when NBC announced the quarterback had agreed to a contract with the network.
Simms’ duties will extend beyond football, with assignments at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
“I think it’s hard for all of us ex-athletes,” Simms said. “We think we can still do it.”
Simms, 39, the leading passer in New York Giants history and MVP of the 1987 Super Bowl, was released by the team last June. He spent last season as a football analyst with ESPN.
