From Staff Reports

Emily Ireland, a senior at Ferris High, was dubbed the school’s Lilac Festival princess Monday night.

Classmates chose the 17-year-old to represent Ferris in the 1995 Lilac Festival. Emily is the daughter of Patrick and Teresa Ireland of Spokane.

She is captain of the varsity basketball team and a member of Distributive Education Clubs of America and the varsity cheerleading squad. She also plays for basketball for a community league, the Spokane Stars.

Emily plans to attend a four-year university on a basketball scholarship. She hopes to study accounting and business.
