Everyone Wants Deion

Fort Worth Star-Telegram

Jerry Jones, the media and football fans continue to buzz about the possibility of “Deion Does Dallas.”

But the Dallas Cowboys owner said Tuesday night that, although he has made a philosophical pitch to Deion Sanders’ agent, Dallas probably has no better than a “1-in-30 chance” of signing the free-agent All-Pro cornerback.

“Despite all the talk, there is nothing more there than is apparent,” Jones said. “Maybe it’s too obvious to say 1-in-30. But it’s a long, long shot.

“Deion could have the unusual opportunity to be a difference-maker for the 49ers winning the Super Bowl one year and a new team (the Cowboys) winning the Super Bowl the next year,” said Jones, repeating the spiel he presented to Sanders’ agent, Eugene Parker. “I want them to at least be aware of our interest.”
