Nc Strikers Drop University

North Central (2-1) handed University (2-1) its first loss of the season with a 2-0 win in GSL soccer action Wednesday.

Cody Smith scored the Indians first goal of the game at the 27-minute mark on a blast from Cody Smith from 18 yards out.

Colin Turnbull extended the margin with a penalty kick in the second half after Smith was tripped from behind in the penalty box.

In other games, Shadle beat Fer ris 3-1, Lewis and Clark blanked Rogers 3-0 and Gonzaga Prep downed Central Valley 8-0.

At the Complex, Jeremy Stuart had a goal and an assist as the Highlanders (1-2) scored their first win of the season by beating the Saxons (0-3).

Ryan Vane scored the first goal of the game on a corner kick from Stuart at the 8-minute mark. Shadle scored two minutes later on a penalty kick by Peter Raber.

At Rogers, Aaron Sweatt scored two goals as the Tigers (2-2) beat the Pirates (0-4).

At CV, Chad Zlateff had a hat trick and an assist as the Bullpups (4-0) shutout the Bears (1-2).

Golf

The Fairways Open Best Ball golf tournament scheduled this weekend has been moved to April 15-16 because of the weather. For more information, call The Fairways at 747-8418.

Volleyball confirmed

The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association executive board agreed to a five-year deal to put the State AAA volleyball tournament in the new Spokane arena.

However, the site for the B tournament is not set. The tournament has been in Cheney at Eastern Washington University with the championship game in the Coliseum prior to the AAA finale.
