Defense Cuts Lead To Sikorsky Layoffs
Sikorsky Aircraft said Monday it will lay off 250 salaried employees this week because of declining defense orders.
The cutbacks, the second round this year at the United Technologies Corp. unit, will reduce the helicopter maker’s work force to about 10,000 people, said a company spokesman.
The work force at Sikorsky is split about evenly between salaried and hourly workers. The defense contractor laid off 120 hourly employees in January.
