Four Cars, Garage Destroyed By Fire

A Deer Park family was awakened by a smoke alarm late Sunday, but not before fire destroyed four cars and the garage.

The fire at 30 E. Wildrose Road started in a garage woodstove, said Joe Krizanic, deputy chief for Fire District 4. About a third of the house was damaged, he said.

No one was injured. “I have to attribute that to the smoke alarm,” which started blaring about 11:15 p.m., Krizanic said.

Firefighters did not have a damage estimate.
