Unlv Coach On The Way
UNLV interim president Kenny Guinn says he expects to name a new Rebels basketball coach today or Wednesday.
The university has been scrambling to find a coach for its beleaguered basketball program since Tim Grgurich resigned at the end of the season. The Rebels went 12-16 under four different coaches the past season, making it the worst in their history.
Possible candidates who surfaced during the weekend include St. Louis coach Charlie Spoonhour, Texas coach Tom Penders, Miami, Ohio coach Herb Sendek and former Rebel Sidney Green.
The university is expected to offer a three-year contract at $300,000 a year.
