Allen’s Aim Pays Off On Lanes With High Finishes In Seven Events

Top-five finishes in all seven events, highlighted by wins in two of the last three, has moved Jeremy Allen into first place in the Junior Bowlers Tour.

Allen notched win No. 2 in the March event at Sunset Lanes, knocking off top qualifier Curtiss Bergheim 221-194 in the finals.

Allen, who had qualified fourth for the television-style rolloffs, fashioned a 673 from the three matches he rolled.

Bergheim had high game for the tournament, a 266, and put together a big 925 score in the first four games of the day. Brett Rayner finished third, Chris Laurie fourth and three-time winner Chad Dudley fifth.

Jessica Neumann’s 233 game was high for the girls.

Skiing

The ski season is winding down but the snow at most places reportedly is as good as it gets.

Here’s a look at what to look for this weekend:

Mount Spokane is closed for the season, making it the perfect place for backcountry skiers to seek some solitude, since the snowpack is still excellent.

Schweitzer Mountain has replaced its traditional late-season “Gong Show” with a “Caribbean Carnival and Northwest IguanaFest” on Saturday. Lift tickets will be reduced to $18 for adults and $15 for students and seniors. Activities are planned from 10 a.m.-midnight.
