Sandpoint Soccer Jumps Ahead, Hangs On
The Sandpoint Bulldogs soccer team scored the first two goals and held off an East Valley Knight second-half rally to win 2-1 at Sandpoint.
Adam Tajan scored 3 minutes into the game and Tim Piehl added an insurance goal at the 19-minute mark.
East Valley’s Clint Burgess scored the Knights’ goal 20 seconds into the second half.
Chad Berkley had seven saves for Sandpoint, while Robbie Atwood had eight for East Valley.
At Coeur d’ Alene, Ryan Bundy scored two goals and assisted on another as the Lake City Timberwolves beat the Bonners Ferry Badgers 8-0.
The Timberwolves jumped out early on Bundy’s first goal at the 45-second mark. Chad Beadell also had two goals for Lake City.
Lake City outshot the Badgers 48-3.
At Lewiston, Brett Fink set a Coeur d’ Alene High School goalscoring record by knocking in five as the Vikings beat the Lewiston Bengals 10-1.

At Post Falls, the East Valley Knights ran away with both the boys and girls team titles at a quad meet.
In the boys competition, Austin Lee of Post Falls won the discus with a throw of 138 feet, 4 inches and the shot put with a put of 45-7.
On the girls side, Post Falls swept the 400- and 800-meter relays, edging the Knights in both events.
At Lewiston, Clarkston won the boys title, while Hermiston, Ore., took the girls crown. Matt Lider was the only winner for Lake City, soaring 18-11 in the long jump.
In girls action, Lake City won the medley relay and Michelle Wimer of Lewiston won the discus with a throw of 119-11. Teammate Kari Alldredge won the high jump, leaping 5-0.
