Spokane Man Arrested After Fatal Crash

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Spokane man involved in a fatal automobile crash in North Idaho Wednesday was arrested for vehicular manslaughter on Thursday.

Shane R. McDonald, 25, was taken into custody upon his release Thursday morning from Sacred Heart Medical Center, where he had been taken following the accident.

McDonald was booked into the Spokane County Jail on a warrant for vehicular manslaughter issued in Benewah County, and was being held on $100,000 bond.

He is accused of being under the influence of alcohol when the jacked-up pickup he was driving crossed over the center line on U.S. Highway 95 and collided head-on with a Honda Accord about 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Idaho state police said the driver of the Honda, Paul William Browne, 35, a Coeur d’Alene attorney, was killed instantly.
