Tot Killer’s Husband Will Write Book

Compiled From Wire Services

The estranged husband of the woman who confessed to drowning their two young sons said Thursday that he will write a book about the nine-day ordeal surrounding the boys’ death and about his life with their mother.

Susan V. Smith claimed a carjacker kidnapped the boys, then confessed and was charged Nov. 3 with letting her car roll into a lake with the boys strapped inside.

“I feel that no one is speaking for my children, the sons I lost,” David Smith said. “I don’t want to see their deaths forgotten.”

A judge has ordered Mrs. Smith examined by psychiatrists to determine whether she is capable of standing trial on two murder counts.

A husband-and-wife writing team from New York City will co-author “Ultimate Betrayal: The Untold Story of Susan and David Smith.” They are seeking a publisher.

Some of the proceeds will go to a charity in memory of the boys.
