Barn, Grass Burn
A controlled burn of tree trimmings and yard debris near Deer Park spread out of control Sunday afternoon, engulfing a barn.
The fire, at 29610 N. Monroe, had been started almost 25 feet from the barn. It spread first to grass and then the barn, said Capt. Don Hunt of Fire District 4.
The barn, about 40 feet by 50 feet, was used for storage, Hunt said.
Fire District 4 was called at 12:04 p.m. and arrived 13 minutes later. The fire was brought under control at 12:42 p.m.
District 4 firefighters also responded Sunday to two slash burns that spread out of control.
One was at Eloika Lake Road near U.S. Highway 2 at 3:05 p.m. The other was at Staley Road near Spotted Road at 1:05 p.m.
No one was injured in any of the fires.
