WSU Student Dies In Gasoline Blaze

From Staff Reports

A Washington State University student died Monday after being severely burned in a gasoline fire police suspect he started himself.

Investigators are looking at the death of Teerawat Choosanguan, 22, of Bangkok, Thailand, as a possible suicide, said Chief Ted Weatherly.

Police and firefighters responding to a reported car fire late Sunday found Choosanguan engulfed in flames near the fuel pumps at the Hico Gas and Grocery Store on Terre View Drive. He was taken to Pullman Memorial Hospital, where he died about noon Monday, Weatherly said.

The fire was intense enough to severely damage the station’s pumps. Weatherly was vague about how Choosanguan might have ignited himself, but said “portions of the investigation lead us to believe significantly that it was suicide.”
