Jeremy Thomas Medical Lake Year: Junior Sport: Baseball Position: Pitcher
Medical Lake pitcher Jeremy Thomas didn’t start his junior year with the same intensity he did his sophomore season.
“I think I did better overall last year,” Thomas said. “I think I slacked off a little bit this year. I didn’t feel like I had to prove myself on varsity this year.
“But I’ve gotten that focus back and I’m throwing better now than I have all season.”
Last week, Thomas threw two nohitters in a five-day span.
He struck out nine in a 9-0 Northeast A League baseball game against visiting Newport while allowing just three baserunners.
The win put Thomas’ record at 4-2 for the season. He also helped his cause by hitting a double and a triple to drive in three of ML’s nine runs.
Also, last Tuesday, Thomas nohit Colfax in a 5-0 win. He struck out 10 batters and allowed just two baserunners, both of whom were thrown out.
“I wasn’t thinking about much. I was just trying to do my thing on the mound,” he said.
“I think the key is to go out there with the concentration, don’t give up any walks, don’t think about it (pitching) and get great defensive help from the team.
“To me it’s just a matter of going out and doing a job.”
