Ccs Baseball, Softball Teams Sweep Doubleheaders

The Community Colleges of Spokane swept an NWAACC East baseball doubleheader from Columbia Basin Tuesday.

Pat Fischer and Tyson Best each had three RBIs in CC Spokane’s 8-6 first-game win over visiting Columbia Basin.

Charlie Zimmerman pitched his seventh complete-game win, allowing four earned runs and eight hits.

In the second game, CCS blasted Columbia Basin 12-5, led by Jason Mathews, who went 3 for 3 with three RBIs.

Spokane is tied for first with Walla Walla at 18-7 in NWAACC East Regional play.

Pitcher Kory Kimball struck out eight batters, walked two, and did not allow a hit until the 4th inning.

CC Spokane 6-6, Walla Walla 5-2

CCS went 12 innings with Walla Walla Community College in the first game of a doubleheader and pulled out the win on a solo homer by Juline Parry in the 12th inning.CCS’s Carla Coffield had a solo homerun in the 1st inning to give the Sasquatch the early lead.

Julie Fountain picked up the victories in both games for CCS (22-2, 23-7). She won the first one in relief of her sister, Deanna, and the second by pitching the distance.

Walla Walla fell to 15-9, 19-9.
