Gunman Closes Golden Gate Bridge
A suicidal man armed with a handgun on the Golden Gate Bridge was shot and taken to a hospital Tuesday night after police stopped all traffic on the span.
The man was first spotted walking back and forth on the bridge with a gun just before 8:55 p.m., Golden Gate Bridge police said.
Shots were fired about 9:45 p.m., and the man was injured and taken to San Francisco General Hospital, police said. His condition was not immediately available. It was unclear if the unidentified man shot himself or was shot by police.
No one else was hurt.
The bridge, which links San Francisco with Marin County, remained closed late Tuesday.
