In Pursuit Of Justice
Fifteen years after 19-yearold Kimberly Palmer was strangled in Post Falls, her convicted murderer, Don Paradis, draws close to execution in Idaho.
Now, his lawyers are going after public sympathy. With new evidence, they can prove Paradis is innocent, they say. All they need is a judge who will listen.
On Thursday, The SpokesmanReview will look at the attorneys’ publicity machine and the evidence they want a judge to see.
“The state is doing this in our name,” says Paradis attorney Edwin Matthews of the planned execution. “They should be serving justice.”
Prosecutors scoff. In Paradis’ 13 years on death row, they point out, judge after judge has upheld the sentence. The only injustice, prosecutors say, is that the execution of a coldblooded killer is taking so long.
