Liberty School Bond Vote Falling Short
The vote tally is still unofficial, but Liberty School District’s fourth try at a school construction bond is short of what it needed to pass.
The bond needed 60 percent approval to pass and received 58 percent of 1,024 votes. A few absentee ballots still must be counted.
The $7 million bond would have paid for construction and remodeling of overcrowded classrooms. The estimated tax rate was $2.27 per $1,000 of assessed property value. District attempts to pass similar bonds failed in 1990, 1993 and 1994.
