First Duty For Interim President At Idaho Is To Fill Dean Vacancies

Associated Press

Departing University of Idaho President Elisabeth Zinser’s interim successor will take up the search for new law school and forestry deans, state Board of Education President Curtis Eaton says.

Zinser is leaving to become chancellor at the University of Kentucky.

Sheldon Vincenti is stepping down as dean of the College of Law to return to the classroom on Aug. 1. The university’s first choice to replace him turned down the Moscow school’s offer.

William Henning, the R.B. Price Professor of Law at the University of Missouri, cited his excellent situation in Columbia, lower-than-average salary at Idaho and a concern that his administration would not be given the support it needs from outside constituencies.

Since Henning’s announcement, the law school faculty has passed a resolution asking the Board of Education to appoint Idaho law professor Jack Miller to a two-year term as dean.
