Shadow Falls To Salem, 5-3

The Salem (Ore.) Surge powered to a 5-3 soccer victory over Spokane on Sunday in Willamette, Ore., sending the Shadow to its third loss in four games this USISL season.

Spokane scored three goals to start the second half, tying it 3-3, but Salem scored twice in the 58th minute. Jim Martenson, Zane Higgins and Dave Berto scored for the Shadow.

Chris Hancock of Spokane defended his title Sunday at the second annual Greater Chilco Open on Rimrock Golf Course at Hayden Lake, Idaho, edging Brian Mullen of Athol, Idaho.

Twyla Masterson of Athol won the women’s title.

Washington won men’s and women’s varsity eight rowing titles at the Pac-10 championships in Redwood City, Calif.
