Mitchell In Hunt At Washington Open

Chris Mitchell shot an even-par 71 and is four strokes off the lead after the first round of the Washington Open at Glendale Country Club in Bellevue on Monday.
Mitchell, the pro at Sundance, is tied for ninth in the 168-player field and trails leader Rob Gibbons heading into today’s second round.
Liberty Lake’s Bob Scott shot 72 for a share of 11th.
Valley View’s Mark Rohde and Indian Canyon’s David Christensen each shot 75.
Scott Shagool of Painted Hills shot a 78, Dan Koesters of the University of Idaho shot 80 and Craig Schuh of Deer Park had an 81.
Pro-Am
Mark Gardner shot a 4-under-par 66 to win the Washington Trust Bank Pro-Am at Wandermere Golf Course.
Gardner, the pro from The Creek at Qualchan, had rounds of 35-31 and won by one stroke over Wandermere’s Bill Ross, who had nines of 34-33.
Stephanie Davis of Hay den Lake Country Club won the women’s title, carding a score of 40-36 for a 76. Patti Marquis of Painted Hills was a stroke back.
Bob Christensen (CdA resort) shot a 68 to win the amateur division.
