Royalty Funds To Fix Up Glacier
Glacier National Park and its chief concessionaire have reached an agreement that will more than triple the royalty paid by the hotel and restaurant company, with the money funneled into repairs for aging park buildings.
Under its original 1981 contract, Glacier Park Inc., paid 1.5 percent of its gross receipts to the federal treasury. Under the new agreement, GPI will pay 5 percent of its gross into a special fund earmarked for capital improvements.
The agreement comes after the two sides went to formal arbitration to iron out differences.
