Calipari Cool To Celts

Compiled From Wire Services

Boston Celtics director of basketball operations M.L. Carr interviewed the University of Massachusetts’ John Calipari, one of the most successful college coaches in the country the last four years, about his interest in the NBA team’s head coaching position.

At the end of the discussion, which lasted for approximately an hour, Calipari said he was not interested in the job at this time, according to sources.

Carr, who fired Chris Ford as head coach nine days ago, has been compiling a list of candidates, reportedly including many from the Celtics family such as Paul Silas and Don Chaney.

But by interviewing Calipari, Carr and the Celtics show a willingness to entertain putting a fresh, new face at the club.
