Education System Focus Of Meeting
The state Board of Education has scheduled a special Aug. 2 meeting to discuss possible restructuring of Idaho’s higher education system.
The Legislature has the final say on whether to endorse the status quo of separate colleges and universities, merge them into a single university system overseen by a chancellor or establish some other structure.
A legislative interim committee is studying the issue, and the state board’s role will be to make a recommendation to that panel.
The agenda for the Aug. 2 meeting in Boise has yet to be determined, but discussion will include strengths and weaknesses of the existing structure and other forms of administration.
