Pow, Mia Stamp To Be Sold Monday

A new stamp honoring prisoners of war and those missing in action will go on sale Memorial Day, the day selected to honor those who have served the nation.

The POW-MIA stamps will go on sale at 12:01 a.m. Monday in front of Postal Service headquarters in Washington, officials said Thursday.

The stamps will be on sale across the country at special booths where memorial ceremonies are held, postal officials said.

About 9 a.m., President Clinton will host a ceremonial unveiling for the stamp at the White House

And a special ceremony will be held at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at 1 p.m. featuring Postmaster General Marvin Runyon; Sen. Bob Smith, R-N.H., a Vietnam vet; and Hershel Gober of the Department of Veterans Affairs.
