Waste-Reduction, Recycling Programs Recognized
The following businesses, institutions and individuals were acknowledged for their outstanding contributions to a better environment for Spokane through their waste-reduction and recycling programs. The winners were selected by the Solid Waste Advisory Committee.
Large Business: Associated Industries.
Small Business: KKZX Classic Rock.
Institution: Spokane Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Large Non-Profit Agency: Empire Health Services.
Small Non-Profit Agency: Spokane Art School.
Business Co-op: Recreational Equipment Inc.
Individual: Becky Statzel and Natalie Kesley, from Lewis and Clark High School.
Brenda Keneally, Spokane, has been inducted into the Samford University (Birmingham, Ala.) chapter of the Alpha Lambda Delta honor society for freshmen. She is a nursing major and daughter of Robert and Louise Keneally.
Gordon Budke, managing partner of Coopers & Lybrand, received a Gold Leadership Award from the Junior Achievement Inc. national headquarters. He was recognized for volunteer contributions to JA of the Inland Northwest Inc. and to the organization’s regional and national efforts.
Jessi Seppa, a senior at Lewis and Clark High School, has been selected by the Washington State Commission on Education Excellence to receive the 1994-95 Youth Leadership Award. She has achieved a 3.98 grade-point average in the honors program and has served as a class officer and a member of the student council and National Honor Society. She will receive a $2,000 scholarship to further her education.
Washington State University Spokane students Scott Reisnouer and Sharon Boggs have been selected to receive the WSU President’s Student Leadership and Service Award. The award is presented to students for exceptional leadership and service to the university and the community.
Reisnouer is completing his final year at WSU Spokane as a graduate student studying criminal justice. He was recognized for his work with the Associated Students of WSU Spokane and volunteer efforts in the community. Boggs will graduate this summer with a master’s degree in human nutrition. She serves as the program’s first intern at Sacred Heart Medical Center.
