Absentee Ballots Kill School Levy

A $26,000, two-year operating levy in the Summit Valley School District near Addy, Wash., failed Friday after nine absentee ballots were counted.

The measure, which had 62 percent support on election night May 16, slipped to 59.1 percent after the absentees were counted. A 60 percent majority is required for passage. The final count was 52-36.
